ROBERT MADDOX
Robert Maddox was born to John
Maddox and Margaret Kent
in New Kent County, Virginia. He was baptized in St.
Peters parish, Feb 25, 1704/5. This is from the Register
of St. Peters Parish, New Kent County VA 1684-1786.
He was the first son born in Virginia to this
couple. However, we believe it possible that they
had at least 2 older children born before arriving in St.
Peter's Parish. The Goochland County, VA
court Orders May Court 1746 named John Maddox,
"the elder brother of Michael", who had died.
Michael Maddox is another known son of John and
Margaret.
Robert Maddox took the lead role in settling Michael's
estate. John Maddox had given up his right to do
so in court.
Robert married Mary last name
unknown about 1740. Robert would have
been 35 years old, which is late for a first
marriage. They had at least one known son
John Wilson Maddox, born 1747. He
married Mildred, maybe Keesee. They
were active in the Cedar Creek Monthly Meetings of
Hanover county Virginia.

Maddox who wed Sarah Roberts
Robert Maddox and Mary, his wife recorded a deed
in Henrico County in Nov. 1755. for 400 acres on the
Nottoway River. Patent Book 29, page 457, Prince
Edward County Deed Book 1, page 35A.
Robert Maddox died prior to April 1, 1717. That was
when an Inventory of his estate was presented to the
Henrico County VA Court by Mary Maddox, John Wilson
Maddox and Daniel Warrener. Henrico County -
Index to wills and Administrations, 1655-1800.
