SARAH PERRY
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT.
Sarah Perry was born between mid June and mid August 1820 in Caldwell County, Kentucky. Her birth date is based on the dates the Census were taken in 1850 and 1870. According to The Princeton Art Guild 1987 Year Book Caldwell Ct, Ky. Sarah was one of 8 children of James and Penelope Perry. Penelope's name may have been Penelope Jenkins according to a webfriend. Needs confirmation.
The book Caldwell County Marriages 1804-1891 state that on May 10, 1845 Sarah Perry and Nathaniel Hubbard were married by James. C. Willer.
The 1850 Caldwell County census taken on Aug
              15th
              lists the family as:
              Nat Hubbard born
              Tenn. age 24,
              Sarah born Ky. age
              30
Eliza J. Born Ky. age 4
              Robert Patterson born
              Ky. age 1
John Perry born Ky. age 36. This is probably
              Sarah's brother.
Now the story gets
              confusing.   On the
next 2 Census 1860 and 1870 Nathaniel is not counted as
              part of the
family, but Sarah has young children.  So where was
              Nat and when
did he die?  Or whose children are they?

The Caldwell County 1860 Census lists the
              family as:
              Mrs. S. Hubbard age 40,
Family governess with real estate value at $1100 and
              personal estate of
              $270.
              Eliza age 14,
              Robert
              age 11,
              Joseph age 8,
              Thomas age 5,
                John
              age 3.

By the Caldwell County
                1880
Census, roll   T9_406, page 423 taken
              on June 15,
              1880, She is a widow.
              She is living with
              Wylie Perry age 66
              Farmer
              Head of household
              Sallie Hubbard
              "sister"
age 59 widow both parents born in NC
              Joseph Hubbard
              "son" age
              27  laborer
              Thomas Hubbard
              "son" age 24
              laborer

J.L.Hubbard is
              living nearby
married to Cinty with a five year old child.

So I went looking for the young children and I found "Nancy" Hubbard single,
              age 34 with a
              load of children:
              Alice  age
              14,
              Albert age 12,
              Lulie age 10,
              Henrietta age 8
              Sarah age 7
              Emma age 8 ????
              Ella age 4
              Viola age 2

So here are the 3 young children from Sarahs 1870
              house hold plus 5
more.  This Nancy is the same age as Eliza
                J.  Could it be that they are the same
person.  It seems  Nancy had  a
              committed relationship.  All the
fathers are said to be born in Tennessee, so probably the
              same
              man.

Sarah Perry Hubbard died 1883 and is
              buried in the
Perry Cemetery north of Princeton Kentucky. The
              tombstone says
              simply "Sarah Perry,
              his wife
              1820-1883" It is with Nathaniel
Hubbard's stone.  I do not know when Nathaneil
              died, but
now believe it to be between 1856 and 1860.
