CAPTAIN WILLIAM H. HARRISON
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT
William H. Harrison was born 1703 maybe in Stafford
County, Virginia.  His parents were William Harrison and Sarah Hawley.  Ann
              H. Mack wrote an article for The Virginia Genealogist,
                Volume 28, 1984 entitled Hawley/Halley In
                Seventeenth Century Virginia

William H.  Harrison (and I don't
know what the H stands for, maybe Hawley).
married Isabella Triplett. re Marriages of
                Some Virginia Residents 1607 - 1800.
I don't know when, but one of his daughters married in
1750, so she must have been born no later than 1735.
This was the 2nd marriage for Isabella.  Her first
husband, Captain Elias Hore died in 1730.  So
the marriage took place sometime between 1730 and 1735.
William and Isabella were wed in Overwharton
Parish, Stafford County. VA.  He was a member
of the commission of peace for Prince William County
when it was created from Stafford County in 1731.
Isabella was older than William by 8
years.  She brought two sons to this second marriage,
William and Elias Hore. Isabella and William H.
                Harrison had only daughters:
              1. Susannah Harrison born about 1734 wed Robert
                Slaughter
              2. Margaret
Harrison, born about 1736 wed Edward
                Blackburn
              3. Sarah Harrison born about 1738 wed John
                Monroe
              4. Mary Harrison, born about 1740 wed John
                Waters (or Walter)
There is said to be a will, but I do not have it. However, we do have one of those wonderful colonial deeds that spelled out the family.: William H. Harrison inherited a track of land in Loudoun County, VA from his father William Harrison. On September 3/4, 1760 Margaret (nee Harrison) and her husband Edward Blackburn sold their portion of the track. The deed found in Loudoun Deeds C:255 connects the family. It says..
"track taken up by William Harrison and devised to William H. Harrison his son.....The Northern Neck Grant was to Sarah Lewis, then Sarah Harrison, widow and relict of William Harrison the elder and mother of William the son. The track was devised to his (William - the son) four daughters, Margaret who married Edward Blackburn, Sarah who married John Monroe, Susanna who married Robert Slaughter and Mary who married John Waler."
Would all deeds contain so much valuable information! The
deed was not recorded until July 10, 1762.

I have a Stafford County Will from Book M., Page 428,
Reel 6  dated April 9, 1745 where Capt.
William Harrison is listed as the Justice of Peace
presiding regarding the estate of Edward Waters,
deceased.  I do not have a will for Capt.
Harrison, but in that same will book and reel 6, I
have the Inventory for the estate of William Harrison.
It is dated Aug. 12, 1746.  So he had died after
April 9, 1745 and Aug. 1746.  The Va. Magazine of
History, vol 23, page 331 states that there is a
will that names his 4 daughters, but says he died in
1750.  I have not found a will, but their date is
              certainly incorrect.  The Overwharton Parish
                Register, page 81 state simply
"Capt. William Harrison departed this life
Dec. 1, 1745."  It is not known where he was buried,
but it may have been in the parish church cemetery, behind
Aquia Church.  the church site has been used since
1667.  It is an amazingly beautiful church.

His oldest daughter was just 11 at the time, so Isabella
now had her two Hore sons, close to grown and
4 daughters ages ranging from 5-11.  Isabella
Triplett Hore Harrison died about 1763 but little is
known about her last years. and I don't know the source of
her possible death date.  I do have a note that says
she has a will in King Georges County.  A
              place to look.
