SARAH FRANCES BURDETTE
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT
Sarah Frances Burdette was born in Feb.
1642 in Tower Hamlets, Stepney, of Middlesex
England, re Geni. Her parents are given
as Cuthbert Burdette and Frances Ann,
last name unknown. Tower Hamlets is in the East End
of London and in 1742 the community would have been
grouped around St. Dunstans.
However, there is another Ancestry family tree that gives
the same parents, but says they emigrated to Accomack Va
Sept. 16, 1633. So Sarah Frances would have
been born in America. And the Sameul family tree states
that she was born Dec. 28, 1636 in MD or 1640 in
VA. I think I would choose Va.
The DAR Lineage Book 1979 states that Burr
Harrison (1636-1697) married 2nd Sarah Francis
Burdette. It does not state when or where or the
source for this information. An unknown source from the
Peabody Library in Baltimore also stated that
Burr Harrison of St. Margaret's Westminster
London England, born 1636 married Frances
Burdett. No mention there of it being a second
marriage. The Peabody Library hold mainly English
Genealogy books. The Geni source that named her
parents state she was one of 3 wives.
Some Emigrants to Virginia by Stanard state that Burr
Harrison emigrated to America in 1665. If
Sarah Frances was born her, they probably me and wed
around 1666 in Virginia.
Sarah Frances and Burr Harrison had 5
children, again Geni: with no dates
1. Margaret Lou who wed Mr. Bland
2. Sybil who wed Mr. Whitledge
3. Capt Thomas Harrison
4. Burr Harrison Jr.
5. Cuthbert Harrison
The Virginia Historical Magazine, Issue unknown
had an article on this family "Harrison of Northern
Virginia". It lists only one child, Thomas
Harrison born Sept 7, 1665 and died 1746.
Geni states that Sarah Frances died 1698 in
Stafford Va and is buried in the Harrison Family
Cemetery in Prince William County VA. There is
a memorial on Find a Grave memorial #17366382
with a photo of a metal memorial in the cemetery
......"In loving memory of the Harrison Family of
Chapawamsic who are buried in this graveyard". The
sign was erected in 1977. It lists in order:

Sarah Frances Burdett Harrison
Thomas Harrison, Sept 7, 1665- Aug. 13, 1746
Sophia C. Short Harrison
Frances harrison Petton
Burr Harrison II born May 21, 1699
Anne Barnes Harrison
The Stafford County, Virginia court records has a paper dated 1700 showing that Burr Harrison married Lettice Smith, widow of Edward Smith. Burr was asking to be appointed guardian to her children.
It is not known when Burr immigrated to Virginia.
